Sessions for Young Women

Why Wait? Honoring our Relationships
Sis. Jennifer Russell and Sis. Rebekah Eustis

Why Wait? Because we are not daughters of this world--we are daughters of God. God sees us as holy, beautiful, fearfully and wonderfully made. He has a plan for us that includes a hope and a future. He loves us so much, and in return for that love, he asks us to give him our hearts and let him write our love story. He promises to be faithful to us and asks us to be faithful to him. So let’s talk about dating, relationships, sex, marriage and love, and how we can learn to patiently wait on God. Let’s reject the lies the world tells us and open our arms to God and Jesus and their love for us.

Lust: The Battle is Real
Sis. Jennifer Russell and Sis. Naomi Gallagher

All too often we find ourselves head-over-heels for a boy, riding the dizzying roller coaster of emotions that follows meeting someone special. But what about honoring God in all of that? This class will touch on self-esteem, boundaries, harmful behaviors (e.g. sexting, pornography, crossing boundaries) in relationships (by either party) and how to honor God in our relationships by putting our Father at the center. Most importantly, we will come to understand that none of us are alone in our walk to the Kingdom and we have a family who will help us overcome difficulties and love us unconditionally.

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
Marylee Nambu - Marriage and Family Therapist

The Fearfully and Wonderfully Made workshop will creatively provide basic information on the ways our culture and media affect our beliefs about sex and sexuality, as well as, what it means to maintain our Christian Identity in the face of the world view our culture presents. Using the basic blueprint of knowledge from the book “Hooked: New Science on How Casual Sex is Affecting our Children” by Drs. Joe S. McIlhaney Jr. and Freda McKissic Bush, this workshop will also provide basic information about how we are physically and emotionally built (neurologically wired) to respond to the sexual stimulus we encounter in our culture and in our relationships.

Sessions for Young Men

Why Wait? Honoring our relationships
Bro. Allen Laban

Ephesians 5:3 sets a high standard - it reads "but among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality." Practically, what does this mean for young men living today, over 2,000 years after these words were written? In this session we will explore what the Bible says about sexual desire, how to deal with lust, where God has laid out His boundaries and practical tips for when you are single or in a relationship. God has given us a wealth of guidance on these topics that remains as relevant today as it was when the words were first written.

Lust: The Battle is Real
Bro. Shawn Eustis and Bro. Ben Gallagher

93% of males under 18 are exposed to pornography online. Society has turned a God-given blessing into an epidemic that poses a tremendous threat to the spiritual and physical health of young men, their future families and the ecclesia. Discussion topics include why many are losing the battle for sexual integrity, practical ways to arm yourselves for the fight, and how God’s grace is more than enough to overcome the emptiness, isolation and shame that affect those caught in this literal web of lies.

Sessions for Parents

From Innocence to Purity
Bro. Jeff and Sis. Sara Ramirez

As parents, our children are precious gifts that we want to keep innocent from the world. But innocence must be for a season, not a lifetime. This class will discuss the difference between innocence and purity, the timing of when children are ready to take on more of the weight of personal moral responsibilities and how as their parents we guide them. Resources will be shared.

Lust: The Battle is Real
Bro. Shawn Eustis

Our kids are fighting a daily battle that the ecclesia has said or done very little about, and we know that they can’t overcome this struggle alone. This session will shine a light on the pervasiveness of the problem and how both young men and women are affected by the absence of sexual integrity. Rules and internet filters are no match for a desire that must come from the heart of the individual. We need to be there for our kids through honest communication and personal example - the battle does not end after CYC or marriage!

Joint sessions

The Blessing of Godly Relationships
Bro. Christian Russell

In this introductory class we consider the question “how should we live?” We live in a morally confused world which believes that God exists for the fulfillment of man’s wishes. It also believes that we can derive our standards of behavior from society around us. As a result many relationships are confused and conflicted. In this joint session we consider that God does not exist for us - but we exist that we might live to the praise of His glory. Therefore we need to pay attention to what ‘pleases’ God. The Bible gives us honest and practical instructions and clear and straight answers about standards of behavior in key areas of life - which include friendships and male and female relationships. Godly guidance which, when followed, can bring great blessings in your life.

Couples Panel

Marriage is God's design. There are many stages in that journey. Marriage at any phase has its challenges, but there are many blessings when marriages are centered on God. The last class of the summit will celebrate Godly marriages. Five different married couples will share with us how God has helped them through the trials and triumphs of their relationships, and the lessons and advice we can take from their experiences.  The five couples who will be sharing their experiences are:

  • Bro. Chris and Sis. Kristin Atwood
  • Bro. David and Sis. Keren Dawson-Bowman
  • Bro. Levi and Sis. Jessica Gelineau
  • Bro. Max and Sis. Linda Wickham
  • Bro. Phil and Sis. Melissa Wong
